Individuals with a central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) often have overlapping processing difficulties including sensory processing disorders, language disorders, learning disabilities and visual processing disorders. This presentation will provide an overview of the tools and assessments used to screen for a CAPD, the role of the audiologist in diagnosing and subtyping a CAPD, targeted auditory training activities for remediation including at-home recommendations, and the importance of working as a team to address the overlapping processing issues.

Presenter:
Dr. Bea Braun is a clinical audiologist and credentialed educational audiologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of central auditory processing disorders. Dr. Braun has 23 years of experience evaluating and treating auditory processing disorders and has completed over 12,000 comprehensive evaluations, testing children as young as age 5 into adulthood. She specializes in evaluating individuals with learning difficulties, ASD, SPD, ADHD, traumatic brain injury, and those identified as twice-exceptional. Dr. Braun has her own private practice in Woodland Hills and Santa Barbara California. She is an adjunct professor at California State University, Los Angeles, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and a member of the Educational Audiology Association and International Guild of Auditory Processing Specialists.
